 Poros Island
Poros island is located very near to the capital of Athens and is ideal for short trip escapes.
One of the closest Greek islands to Athens it is natural paradise with crystal clear waters and Mediterranean vegetation with pine trees, lemon groves and olive trees.
The island has a unique character with houses and buildings in neoclassical architecture.
Close to South Greece and Peloponnissos , Poros is a base for visiting the ancient theatre of Epidavros the ruins of the ancient city of Mycenes the first capital of Greece Nafplion, ferry boat connections are available for the neighbour islands of Hydra, Aegina, Agistri and Spetses.
Visitors must not miss: Zoodochos Pigi Monastery, the Archaeological Museum of Poros, the lemon forest Lemonodassos (Lemonodassos), Poseidon's Temple.
A must for Poros is the home made local Lemonade and visiting in spring the lemon forest when the lemon trees are in bloom.
Local bars restaurants and clubs give cheerful nightlife opportunities.
